Citing Electronic Sources: How
Now that you know why
you must credit Web sources, the only question that remains is how
to properly cite them. First, check with your teacher to see if
she or he has a preferred set of guidelines for citing electronic
sources. If not, the resources listed below will guide you.
The
Columbia Guide to Online Style: MLA-Style Citations of Electronic
Sources Janice Walker from the University of South Florida designed
what has become the authoritative guide to citing electronic
sources. Approved by the Alliance for Computers and Writing,
it includes citation guidelines for WWW documents as well as for
information found in email, Listserv, and newsgroup postings.
The following templates
from Ann Raimes' Keys for Writers Internet Research Guide are
useful aids for recording and tracking information captured from
Web pages for future citation.
