An author, director, and actor, Judi Nihei was born in San Francisco, California.
She received a bachelor's degree in English and creative writing from the University of
Washington in Seattle, where she was also on the staff of the Asian Multi-Media Center.
Besides writing plays and short stories, Nihei is on the writing staff of The Puzzle Place,
a PBS series about diversity and ethics, and she has written scripts for the Emmy-winning KRON-TV
children's program Buster and Me. She is also the artistic director of the Northwest Asian
American Theater and she has been active in companies such as the Asian American Theater Company
of San Francisco and the Committee, San Francisco's original improvisational comedy troupe.
