Be sure you read the problem carefully and understand what you are asked to find. At first, you may think that finding the average salary will involve adding several annual salaries and dividing by a number of years. However, in this situation, the beginning average salary is already given. The average increase per year is also given. To find the average salary after a given number of years, add the total salary increase for the given time period to the beginning average salary. Find the total salary increase by multiplying the annual increase by the number of years. This is shown in the verbal model.
