European Countries in World Wars

Countries such as Switzerland and Sweden were not directly involved in the fighting in World War I and World War II. Use the Internet to research one of the neutral countries and include your findings in a report.

  • Use the Internet and other library resources to identify a country that wasn't directly involved in the fighting.
  • Another source of information might be a historical museum or archive.
  • Look for information about the country's government and economy in the first half of the 20th century, how the country was affected by the wars, and what life was like for the country's citizens.
The CountryWatch Web site gives a detailed summary of the history of countries worldwide.
