Underwater exploration has expanded dramatically since the creation in the 1960s of mini-submarines called submersibles. Submersibles have mapped the ocean floors, discovered ecosystems that exist in total darkness, and explored shipwrecks. Use the sites below to learn more about the Titanic's disastrous voyage, explore the ship's final resting-place on the ocean floor, and watch submersibles in action.
