TERMS TO KNOW:  Roots are word parts that cannot stand alone. They grow into words when they are joined to prefixes (added before roots) or suffixes (added after roots).

Lesson Generalization
Words can be formed by joining prefixes and roots. A root can be joined with many different prefixes. Changing the prefix changes the meaning.

in (in, into)+struct (build) =instruct
con (together, with) +struct (build)=construct

We instruct people. We construct buildings.
