This series of images shows the central United States in November of 1998. A continental polar air mass brought clear, cold weather to the region. Clouds in nighttime images have a blue appearance.   These images show a maritime tropical air mass moving over the California coast during February of 1998. The clouds have been color-enhanced to show the intensity of precipitation falling from them: blue indicates light precipitation; red indicates heavier precipitation.
