Jagged pieces of solidified basalt cover the exterior of this slow-moving lava flow.   Glowing streams of lava spill over rocks and move downhill like waterfalls.
Gases bubbling up with the molten rock occasionally produce impressive lava fountains.   Very fluid lava can travel long distances from the volcanic vent before it solidifies.
