Visible light isn't the only wavelength
of energy that satellite images record. Specialized
sensors on satellites record energy at many different
wavelengths to generate images of things that can't
be detected with the unaided eye. Instruments that are
sensitive to infrared waves (slightly longer than visible
light waves) can record scenes even at night.
