| In
the Grand Canyon, each rock layer can be thought
of as a chapter in a book. Just as you read sequential
chapters of a book to get the whole story, examining
rock layers in the canyon from the oldest to the
youngest will tell a story as well. The "book"
offered by the Grand Canyon tells the long and surprisingly
varied natural history of this part of the world.
