In the atmospheres of Earth and Jupiter,
moving clouds show the direction of winds. Jupiter's
atmosphere consists of alternating dark and light bands.
The light bands are called belts and the dark bands
are called zones.
! Move your cursor over each planet
to see a diagram of the planet's global wind belts.
In the Earth diagram, H represents cool, sinking high
pressure air and L represents warm, rising low pressure
air.
