The German school system provided a model for the American school system evident in the word Kindergarten, or "children garden." Although Germany provided a model and many of the educational theories for the American system of education, there are many differences between the two systems today. Read about education in Germany. ApplicationAfter you have finished reading about the German school system, review your notes. In a small group of 3-4 students discuss how the school systems in Germany and the United States differ. What are the merits of each system? What are the drawbacks? List the advantages and disadvantages on the chalkboard or make a poster. Which system do you think better enables students to achieve their goals in life?
